Learn how to pack your electric scooter correctly before shipping it for repair, warranty, or return. Follow these simple steps to prevent transport damage and avoid additional shipping costs.
Why Proper Packaging Matters
Shipping an electric scooter requires more than simply placing it inside a cardboard box.
Improper packaging is one of the main reasons scooters arrive with damaged displays, scratched frames, broken throttles, bent handlebars, or cracked body panels. In many cases, the damage happens during transport because the scooter was able to move freely inside the box or because the packaging wasn't strong enough.
Taking a few extra minutes to pack your scooter correctly can help protect your investment and speed up the repair process.
Use a Strong Cardboard Box
The first step is choosing the right box.
We strongly recommend using the original Joyor packaging whenever possible, as it has been specifically designed to protect your scooter during transport.
If the original box is no longer available, choose a rigid double-wall cardboard box that is large enough to fit the scooter completely inside without forcing the packaging closed.
Avoid:
- Thin cardboard boxes
- Damaged boxes
- Cardboard sheets wrapped around the scooter
A weak box can easily collapse during shipping.
Fold the Scooter Correctly
Before placing the scooter inside the box:
- Fold the stem completely.
- Secure any loose components.
- Make sure the scooter fits entirely inside the box.
No part of the scooter should protrude outside the packaging.
Forcing the box closed or leaving the handlebars or wheels exposed significantly increases the risk of damage during transport.
Protect the Scooter Inside the Box
Even a strong box cannot protect the scooter if it moves inside.
Use protective materials such as:
- Bubble wrap
- Foam blocks
- Protective cardboard
- Packing paper
The goal is to keep the scooter firmly in place so it cannot shift during transportation.
Pay special attention to sensitive components like:
- Display
- Brake levers
- Throttle
- Front suspension
- Lights
- Mudguards
These parts should never come into direct contact with the cardboard walls.
Seal the Box Properly
Once everything is protected:
- Close all flaps completely.
- Use strong packing tape.
- Reinforce the edges and corners if necessary.
A properly sealed box is less likely to open or deform during handling.
Common Packing Mistakes
Avoid these common errors:

❌ Using weak or damaged cardboard
❌ Leaving parts outside the box
❌ Shipping without internal protection
❌ Allowing the scooter to move inside the box
❌ Letting delicate parts touch the cardboard directly
These mistakes often result in avoidable transport damage.
Damage During Transport Due to Improper Packaging
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the scooter or returned product is packaged safely and securely before shipment.
The original Joyor box is strongly recommended whenever possible. If the original packaging is unavailable, a rigid cardboard box of equivalent quality must be used, with adequate internal protection (such as foam, bubble wrap or similar materials) to prevent movement during transport.
Any damage caused during shipping as a result of inadequate, insufficient or improper packaging—including, but not limited to, weak or damaged boxes, lack of internal protection, or parts protruding outside the package—shall be the sole responsibility of the customer and will not be covered under warranty.
Joyor reserves the right to refuse warranty claims or charge for the repair of any damage determined to have been caused by improper packaging during transport.
